Prosecutor subpoenas phones delay RECORDS
AUSTIN, Texas - A state of Texas prosecutor subpoenaed telephone records for the home phone of House Majority Leader Tom DeLay and the phone of his political campaign yesterday.Also subpoenaed by prosecutor Ronnie Earle were records for two numbers for Mr. DeLay’s daughter, Danielle DeLay Ferro.
Mr. DeLay is facing charges of money laundering and conspiracy in a Texas campaign finance.
The subpoenas list telephone numbers, but not whom they belong. They ask for information about the calls, voice mail service on the numbers and long distance calls from or to the detriment of figures. “The thing is no big deal,” De-Lay-Austin lawyer, Bill White, said.
Mr. Earle seeks the records and information from 1st September 2001 to 31 December 2002, the period when a political committee founded by Mr Delay, Texans for a Republican majority, was money for the 2002 election cycle.
